What can't be listed or sold
Last updated: 8 October 2026
Most businesses never need to think about this page. It exists because a directory that anyone can add to will eventually be used to advertise things that are illegal, dangerous, or aimed at taking money from people who can least afford to lose it — and the people using this site are often exactly who those offers target.
When you add a listing or an item, you confirm that what you're offering is legal in the UK and not restricted, controlled or counterfeit. That confirmation is a statement you're making to us, and we rely on it.
How we check
New listings are screened automatically against a list of restricted terms. A match doesn't reject anything — it holds the listing offlineand puts it in front of a person, usually within a day or two. If it's fine, we publish it. We don't tell you which word matched, because that only teaches people to word around it, and a filter everyone routes around protects nobody.
Automatic screening catches the obvious cases, not every case. Anything on this page is prohibited whether or not a filter noticed it.
Weapons and anything made to cause harm
- Firearms, air weapons, imitation and deactivated firearms, and any part or accessory of one
- Ammunition, reloading components, and explosives of any kind
- Stun guns, tasers, pepper spray and CS gas — all of these are prohibited weapons in the UK, including for self-defence
- Flick knives, butterfly knives, zombie knives, knuckle dusters and other offensive weapons
- Body armour and ballistic protection
Drugs, medicines and anything you'd need a prescription for
This is the one most often tripped by accident, so to be plain: if a pharmacist would ask for a prescription, you can't sell it here.
- Controlled drugs, and the chemicals used to make them
- Prescription-only medicines — including painkillers, sedatives, antibiotics, weight-loss injections and erectile dysfunction treatments
- Anabolic steroids, SARMs and unlicensed performance or bodybuilding products
- Skin-lightening products containing hydroquinone or mercury, which are illegal to sell in the UK
- Nitrous oxide for recreational use
- Anything advertised as available “without a prescription”
Counterfeit and replica goods
- Fake, replica or “first copy” branded goods, however they're described
- Counterfeit currency, stamps or tickets
- Unlicensed copies of films, music, software, books or courses
Documents, qualifications and identity
We take this seriously because the people using this site are often the targets of it.
- Forged or novelty passports, visas, BRPs, driving licences and ID cards
- Fake certificates, diplomas, payslips, bank statements, utility bills or reference letters
- Certificates of Sponsorship, work permits or job offers offered for sale
- Sitting a test or exam on someone else's behalf
- Any service promising a “guaranteed” visa, or a marriage arranged for immigration purposes
Regulated advice and services
You're very welcome to advertise these services — but only if you hold the registration the law requires, and we may ask you to show it.
- Immigration advice without OISC registration or a solicitor's practising certificate
- Financial or investment advice without FCA authorisation
- Money transfer or currency exchange without the required registration
- Healthcare, dentistry or cosmetic procedures without the relevant professional registration
Money, fraud and “get rich” schemes
- Stolen goods, or goods you can't show you have the right to sell
- Card details, account logins, hacked accounts or personal data
- Money-doubling, “wash wash”, cash-flipping, pyramid and Ponzi schemes
- Guaranteed-return investment offers
- Recruiting people to receive or move money on someone else's behalf
Animals, wildlife and food
- Ivory, rhino horn, pangolin scales and other products from protected species
- Bushmeat and uninspected meat or fish
- Live animals
- Food produced at home for sale without the required registration with your local council
Adult services, and anything involving exploitation
- Sexual services, escorting, and massage advertised with “extras”
- Pornographic material
- Work offered without pay, without the right to work, or on terms that would be unlawful
- Human trafficking, and the sale of organs — reported to the authorities, not simply removed
Tobacco, vapes and alcohol
- Illicit, untaxed or counterfeit tobacco
- Vapes or alcohol offered to anyone under 18
- Home-distilled spirits, and alcohol sold without a premises licence
If you break these rules
We'll take the listing down. Depending on what it was, we may close the account, keep a record of it, and report it — the document, trafficking and exploitation categories above are reported as a matter of course. Money paid to promote a listing that breaks these rules is not refunded.
This list isn't exhaustive, and it sits under the moderation section of our terms and conditions. It applies to private messages as well as to listings — see the messaging and moderation policy. If you're not sure whether something is allowed — particularly around regulated advice, food or medicines — ask us at contact@naijaukhub.com before you list it. We'd much rather answer the question than take your listing down.
Spotted something that shouldn't be here?
Email contact@naijaukhub.com with a link. You don't need an account to report a listing, and we'd rather look at ten that turn out to be fine than miss one that isn't.
